R56 Cooper S CVT making me pull my hair out, any trusted Mini specialists around here?

Bought a used 2012 Cooper S a few months back because I thought it would be a fun little runaround for the Sharjah Dubai commute and the first month was a blast but now the CVT is acting like it has a mind of its own, shuddering from a stop and sometimes refusing to go into reverse unless I cycle the ignition off and on again which is beyond embarrassing when you're holding up traffic outside Sahara Centre. I knew the CVT reputation was sketchy going in but the price was right and I figured how bad could it be, well now I'm paying for that optimism with a car that feels like it's running on a rubber band that's about to snap. Saw a few posts online about fluid changes sometimes helping but my gut says the damage is probably deeper with the belt or the valve body given the mileage is just over 140k, so I'm trying to line up someone who actually knows their way around Mini Cooper CVT Gearbox Repair Sharjah without just telling me to scrap it or swap to a manual. Has anyone had actual success with a rebuild on one of these units locally or am I just delaying the inevitable and should start looking for a used transmission instead, honestly torn between fixing it or cutting my losses and listing it on Dubizzle with full disclosure.

A failing CVT in the Mini Cooper S feels like unpredictable communication between engine and transmission, much like trying to decode inconsistent signals when something isn’t working smoothly.

For a different kind of “signal decoding” example, you can check this: morse code darius
