Tiguan brakes making that scratchy noise, how long can I realistically wait?

My 2019 Tiguan started doing that thing where the first few stops in the morning sound like someone dragging a fork across a plate but then it quiets down once everything warms up and I've been telling myself it's just surface rust from the humidity but deep down I know that's probably the wear indicator singing its little song and I should probably deal with it before I end up scoring the rotors, thing is we just had a pretty hefty service bill on my wife's car and I was hoping to stretch this another month or two until after the summer travel plans are sorted out, I tried looking up how thick the pads are supposed to be when they're new just so I could gauge how much material I've actually got left but my phone flashlight through the wheel spokes isn't exactly a precision measuring tool, I found a local place online that breaks down the process for Volkswagen brake pad replacement here and I wanted to read more about the specific pad wear limits for the Tiguan's ATE calipers but I got distracted by a crying toddler halfway through, honestly just trying to figure out if I'm being paranoid about a little morning squeak or if I should just bite the bullet and get it booked in before the noise turns into that deep grinding sound that means I'm shopping for new discs too.
