MAINFRAME MODERNIZATION ARCHITECT

Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Architect, design, develop, configure and optimize applications that are secure, perform efficiently, operationally stable and meet business requirements.
- Manages own work to meet schedule and communicates regularly on progress.
- Team-based development experience and familiarity with source code tools/process, bug tracking, code reviews, and other common development activities.
- Identify redundant work done across multiple projects and develop strategy for consolidating and reusing across projects.
- Identify process gaps and provide solutions for them
- Participate in architecture, design and code reviews.
- Create proof of concept technology analysis and pilots.
- Conduct customer presentations and internal presentations/trainings to peer groups.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 15+ YEARS OF PURE HANDS-ON TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE 
- Complete understanding of software development lifecycle. Must have done an end-to-end solution design + implementation for atleast 2 large engagements
- Strong analysis skills with SOLID concepts in Architecture and Design .Should have architected, designed and developed complex business applications
- Must have a strong understanding of software architectures and Mainframe technologies 
- Strong expertise in zOS, COBOL, DB2, VSAM,REXX,JCL
- Expertise in any 1 Non-COBOL Program languages (PL1, Assembler , Focus, Easytrieve, IDEAL , Natural)
- Expertise in atleast 1   transaction processing system – CICS , IMS-TM , ADSO
- Expertise in atleast 1 non-relational data-store - IMS-DB, IDMS, Datacom, ADABAS
- Expertise in atleast 1 middleware technologies - MQ , CICS Transaction Gateway
- Expertise in any configuration management product on mainframe - Changeman. Endevor , ISPW 
- Expertise in executing migration/transformational engagements
- Preferred knowledge/expertise  on following
- Rules-extraction from COBOL/PL1/Assembler /Ideal /Natural
- Vendor Tools (e.g.) – Atleast 2 or more  of the below 
Re-hosting tools
    - Micro-focus suite - Enterprise analyzer ,Enterprise server , EDz
    - Heirloom Suite – Heirloom SDK , Elastic COBOL, Elastic Transaction Platform , Elastic batch Platform 
    - TMAXSoft – Openframe
    - TSRI /BluAge
Modernization  Tools
    - Inventory analysis tools  :IBM AD / IBM ADDI / Microfocus Enterprise analyzer / Averisource
    - Rational Developer for System Z/ IDz
    - Rational Development and Unit  test for System z  /zD&T
    - zOS explorer
- Service/API enablement experience using CICS Web Services, zOS Connect, IMS Connect 
- Output Management products on Mainframe – Documerge 
- Mainframe Devops with experience on products like IBM DBB , Compuware  Topaz , Urban-code Deploy
- AIX/Unix/Linux
- Scripting languages  - PERL/ R / Python/Groovy
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Strong attention to detail.
- Sound problem resolution, judgment, negotiating and decision making skills
- Excellent written and oral communication, team skills
- Excellent understanding of enterprise business architecture and technology architecture.
- Strong knowledge and ability to apply latest technology, standards, capabilities and limitations of technology.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- IBM CERTIFICATIONS DESIRABLE
- Cloud certifications desirable – AWS , Azure , GCP
- NOSQL DB Certification desirable e.g. Mongo DB , Couchbase , Cassandra
- DEVOPS CERTIFICATION DESIRABLE – IBM DBB
- .NET/Java Certifications desirable
- TOGAF CERTIFICATION DESIRABLE
