Mainframe Developer

Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Mainframe Developer to join our team. A software developer is needed to enhance and maintain the Medicare Part A system, FISS.  This is a large legacy healthcare claims processing system written in COBOL / CICS.  The assignment is anticipated to be 6 to 12 months in duration.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develops enhancements to the Medicare Part A health care claims processing system. 
• Follows either a waterfall or agile/scrum development life cycle. 
• Responsible to create technical design deliverables, develop new programs, enhance existing programs, build unit test plans, cases, data, and execute those tests. 
• Installs changes into internal testing regions and fixes discovered defects. 
• Follows procedures and coding standards in a highly rigorous development environment. 
• Plans and executes work assignments in a way to ensure all project manager-assigned due dates are met. 
• May provide mentoring to less experienced developers. 
• May lead peer developers as a project lead on some assignments.
• Can identify and implement process improvements and updates to technical documentation.

Required Experience/Skills:

• 8 years of experience required
• Experienced with mainframe technologies such as COBOL, JCL, CICS, TSO, and VSAM. 
• Knowledge of health care claims processing. 
• Able to perform well in a highly rigorous development environment, such as one that conforms to Capability Maturity Model Integration for Development (CMMI-DEV) Maturity Level 3.
• Experience with working in a Waterfall and/or Agile/Scrum development lifecycle
• US Citizenship/Green Card/Permanent Residency is required for this position.
• Candidate must reside in the contiguous United States

Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent training required.

Background Check: This position requires the successful completion of a background check, drug screen, and credit check.
